Session 1: Multiple choice test (50% of the total score toward All round scholar, UTR, Intron awards)
Session 2: Computational research (50% of the total score toward All round scholar, UTR, Intron awards)
Session 3: Random short presentations
ADVANCED CONTEST FORMAT (R programming questions included):
Session 1: Multiple choice test (40% of the total score toward All round scholar, UTR, Intron awards)
Session 2: Computational research (60% of the total score toward All round scholar, UTR, Intron awards)
Session 3: Random short presentations
PURPOSE: To familiarize students with functional genomics, help them understand diseases in terms of genes and environmental networks, and participate in computational biology research.
AWARD: There will be cash prizes for the contest winners and raffle winners. Award ceremony follows the competition and talent show.
PARENTS: are welcome to attend any of the events (see parent sessions for more information).

Participation will broaden your perspective on the emerging field of medical genomics. You become familiar with key elements of genomics and learn how to access freely available resources which can lead to cures. In short, the contest itself is a learning opportunity.
